Abstract

The article examines the mechanisms for the implementation of public policy in the provision of medical care for cancer, providing for holistic approaches to health care at the international and national levels in accordance with the principle of "health in all policies." It has been substantiated that global morbidity and mortality are gradually changing the direction of government activities that form health policy, realizing the urgent need to develop modern measures to reduce mortality, search for modern solutions to stop the growth of morbidity, provide medical care, including cancer, prevention and mitigation. The historical periods of the formation of world scientific research of a medical nature concerning the treatment of cancer are analyzed. Advances in cancer treatment have been proven to be increasing: different combinations of chemotherapy have been tested, refined, and contributed to a wide range of clinical trials. Over the course of several years, there has been a profound change in cancer treatment, thanks to significant funding for cancer research and the creation of a new profession – medical oncology. It has been proven that the world's scientific medical institutions play a key role in the evolution of oncology. They contribute to the awareness of oncology as a medical specialty through the creation of cancer centers, and the development of public policy mechanisms for the provision of medical care for cancer is perceived as a separate component of public administration in the health sector. It is the implementation of such mechanisms that should contribute to an increase in the number of people with cancer who have escaped death. A number of difficulties in achieving the strategic goals of public policy to reduce cancer are outlined. It has been proven that the current state of health and the need for constant monitoring of cancer incidence is a serious problem for national health systems. The main ways of increasing the efficiency of the functioning of the system of medical care for cancer have been substantiated.
