Abstract

The article considers the relevance of the problem of terminology management in the conditions of the rapid development of information technologies and the growth of volumes of scientific and technical information. The growing number of disciplines and fields of knowledge emphasizes the need to systematize and effectively manage terms to improve the quality and speed of communication. Various examples of the use of glossaries in various areas are reviewed, including in certification systems, software product documentation, and educational platforms. Taking into account the task, a personalized glossary management system was developed based on the Oxford Dictionaries API, which provides access to a wide range of lexical data of the English language. The article considers detailed aspects of the development of a glossary management system based on the Oxford Dictionaries API. System functionality for users and administrators is presented, including the ability to search, add and delete terms, export selected terms, and manage users and search history. The sequence of events during user interaction with the system is shown using a sequence diagram. The structure of the database used to store information about users, searched words and selected terms is described in detail. The use of the Laravel framework in the PHP programming language to implement the system is indicated and the structure of the website from the user’s point of view is displayed. The analytical tools of the system, such as statistics of the most popular terms and a pie chart of searches by parts of speech, are additionally highlighted. The conclusions highlight the potential opportunities and advantages of using the developed system for the formation of personalized glossaries in educational, scientific and practical use, and consider the scaling and deployment of the system on a web server for further use in various organizational environments.
